Location Characteristics: Salvo is a peaceful vacation spot surrounded by gorgeous beaches and many sand hills, perfect for kite boarding and wind surfing, canoeing and exploring the beauty of the Sound. Bird watchers love the proximity to the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. A drive through parts of Salvo will revel stacked crab pots, fish boxes and Banker fisherman at work just as they were generations ago.

Bring along your four wheel drive vehicle. Salvo has a great beach access for your vehicle and a kiteboarding launch area. Here you can find picnic tables with grills on the soundside day use area provided by the National Park Service. A little south of Salvo is about ten miles of untouched National Park land. Here you can ride down untouched beach and pick out your own fishing spot or your own place to pull out the cooler and beach blanket.

If you haven’t stayed in this area before, try it-you’ll like it… especially with the many beautiful, vacation cottages available.
